Welcome to Arklahoma Wildlife, a website dedicated to photographers shooting wildlife in Arkansas and Oklahoma. My name is Michael and I am the founder of Arklahoma Wildlife.
My interest in photography began in 2011. I needed a good camera for images to use on websites. I did my research, and purchased the original Canon 7D with the 18-135mm kit lens. I learned quickly that I didn’t know anything about taking pictures.
I was taking pictures of anything and everything, watching online videos, ordering videos, buying books, trying to learn as much as I could. Now, five years later, I’m still learning.
Over this period, I acquired a lot of gear. Bodies, lenses, tripods, lights, light stands, heads, you get the idea. My photography improved and after a couple of years, I was able to begin earning money through photography.
In 2014, I rented and opened my own studio in Fort Smith, AR. I pay the bills shooting real estate and commercial work, but my passion is wildlife photography. I’d be in the woods everyday if I could.
I’ve been and am a member of different online photography communities, local, regional, and worldwide. Although they are all good, they were not providing me with the information that was relevant to my wildlife photography. From this lack of relevancy, Arklahoma Wildlife was conceived.
My hope is to create a community for new and experienced wildlife photographers that live in Arkansas and Oklahoma. To be able to use this site to share, learn, and connect with other like-minded wildlife photographers. I hope that you’ll become a part of the Arklahoma Wildlife community.
